WOW! YES!!!! So fantastic! I had the vegetal tacos (with fingerling potatoes, oyster mushrooms, radishes etc), a grapefruit aqua fresca (SO GOOD!) and it certainly didn’t hurt that the (very attractive and personal/friendly) owner said my chocolate caliente was on him. I drank my yummy hot chocolate on a frigid walk back home and it was so incredible that I almost turned around to get another one to bring to a chocolate loving friend. I didn’t b/c I was running late, but will certainly bring said friend there soon to enjoy the creamy, rich, complex, spicy flavor. This is an AWESOME addition to a neighborhood that really needed a great taco place. I will definitely be going back sooner than later…There’s a LOT on the menu that I want to try. Fresh, funky and fabulous. BRAVO.

UPDATE: Summer 2011: I have to say, this place has gone WAYYYYY downhill since it opened. Lately, the service sucks, the drinks hardly have any alcohol in them (especially for the price) and the tacos are only so so. Not only that, but they’ve started charging if you run out of chips and want more…and they don’t bother telling you that when you ask! They should have stayed tiny!

I had a great date here last week. We got seated right away even though it looked pack upon our arrival. Chips were good and fresh, salsa was eh. Guac was quite good and had an unusual herb in it- not cilantro..maybe basil?? The waitress was unsure of what it was which was a little odd. I had the artichoke quesadillas which were the perfect portion size since I wasn’t starving. Lovely delicate flavor, and very fresh tasting. I also had a mojito- which was VERY good but VERY strong…Most people would probably love that, but for me, it meant I could only handle about 3/4 of it before cutting myself off. The atmosphere is cute- maybe slightly on the tacky side, though the maraca light fixtures are adorable and festive. The waitress was friendly and attentive, but not at all overbearing (which is one of my least favorite problems with service in a lot of the UES restaurants) I’ll go back for sure- probably more fun with a big rowdy group than a romantic date. It was nice that they let us linger in peace- and they did give us a relatively quiet table in the corner. I was surprised to find out that it’s the same owners as the Vinyl that it replaced..No comparison between the 2 food quality wise- this is FAR better and a welcome addition to the UES.

My amazing fabulous diva Grandma and I were the only people eating lunch here today aside from Kyra Sedgwick and her Grandma. So, that was already pretty cool. The food here was too good for my vocabulary to do it justice. We shared a lovely salad to begin along with the breadsticks/bread/olives that were set out for us. I had the fig and beet ravioli which was by FAR the best ravioli I’ve ever had. The portion sizes were perfect and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable. For dessert we shared “all about chocolate” which was exactly what you’d expect. Little did we know, they also brought out adorable little pastries on the house- had we known that we probably would have skipped the chocolate dessert. We are BIG sweets eaters and couldn’t make a dent in the spread left for us. All in all, this was one of my favorite dining experiences to date and I would love to go back sometime soon! It is, however, rather pricey- as to be expected with quality and service like this- but definitely worth a special occasion splurge if you’ve got the money (or a diva Grandma who does 🙂 Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

Are you feeling a little under the weather? Does your Grandma have other things going on in her life where maybe a call from you sniffling doesn’t send her right into make-you-some-homemade-chicken-soup mode? If so, you will be as thankful as I am for PJ Bernsteins and delivery. You too can have homemade chicken soup at your door in just a few minutes and you’ll start to feel better immediately. Aaaachooo!

I can eat my weight in sushi. No seriously, for someone who stands 5’2″ tall and weighs just slightly more than my dog, I can put away a ridiculous amount of raw fish. I could eat it every day and still not get sick of it. If you look at my delivery order history, you might think I am trying to prove those facts to someone. My favorite place to order from is Sushi Suki. Not only are they crazy fast and perfectly accurate every time, the sushi is beautifully prepared, fresh and delicious consistently. Try it!

I get delivery frequently from Gobo- one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants in the city. I am not a vegetarian, but I do enjoy tasty, creative foods and that’s what you’ll find here. I’m totally and completely addicted to the black soymilk bubble tea. And to the shitake caps. And the lettuce wraps. And the new england rolls. And the spinach dumplings thingos. Yum. It’s all such great food..Invite your veggie friends to go with you. They will be very impressed, I promise!

Looks can be deceiving. I’ve walked past this restaurant a thousand times but never went in because it’s so plain and dark inside. This is the exact reason that delivery exists. Eating wonderful food in your own home turns it into a 4 star meal. Vegetarian bean tacos/enchiladas and amazing guacamole. Unbelievably creamy sweet potato soup. I decided to indulge in the ‘guilt-free, dairy-free, egg-free chocolate mousse cake’ and OHMYGOD it was, as my dear friend would say, INSANELY GOOD. Is this really guilt-free?? I kind of doubt it, but it’s so worth it anyway.
Yum.

I am a runner. My motto is, “I run so I can eat.” For anyone else who is a runner, you probably understand that on tough miles you sometimes have to silently chant mantras over and over to keep going. One of my mantras is, “sticky rice. sticky rice. sticky rice”. It motivates me to keep running, to finish whatever challenge I’ve set out on and look forward to getting home to order in from Land Northeast Thai. My favorites from them are: the land salad with beets and delicious peanut sauce, the massman curry chicken (with, of course, a side of sticky rice), the satay appetizer with 3 different skewers of deliciousness, and the mixed appetizers- which gives you a nice sampling of puffy things and dumpling things with 3 different sauces. I often make a meal out of 2 apps, or 1 entree, or I order in an app and an entree and can get 2 full dinners out of it. Whatever you do though, make SURE to save room for the mango sticky rice dessert. As a crazy chocoholic, it’s rare that I stray dessert-wise, but this one? Wow. This one is good enough that the thought of it alone can get me through a 10 mile run.
